Pros:Beautiful sound, portability, styling
Cons:Remote can be flaky
The Bottom Line: This is a fantastic product that I highly recommend if you are in the market for a micro system.

I recently purchased a Model 88CD to be used in my living room. I considered purchasing a micro system from Sony or JVC, but decided on the Model 88 after evaluating each for sound quality and features. I consider myself to be very picky when it comes to hifi. What the Model 88 gives you that the micro systems don't is substantial low frequency response. Overall, the sound is very balanced. I found the micro systems to be too bright in the high frequencies and they had little or no bass output. The model 88 is very consistent across it's entire frequency range. The sound is also very "smooth" sounding. Great for a living room application where you don't want a large stereo system. The tuner is also very good. It is able to pickup all local stations without an antenna. The only con that I have encountered is that the remote needs to be pointed directly at the unit for it to work properly. Otherwise, the remote is fully functional and well thought out.
