Pros: Cheap! :)
Cons: Cheap! :(
The Bottom Line: Don't get lured into the saying that these speakers are a good value. Good value means good quality at low price. These speakers are missing the quality part.

Have you ever wanted to buy the cheapest speakers you could find that still sound okay. Well, don't stop at these speakers because, while inexpensive, the quality is horrible.
The problem is the static!
You feel like you are listening to a radio station from the other side of the world. There is nothing more annoying than trying to play a game when you can't even hear what is going on because of the crackling, or not even being able to listen to an mp3 because you're speakers might fall apart.
Here are the problems which make the static problem so bad:
- For only $20, you can't expect much more options besides a volume control. So without being able to fix the treble or anything, you are helpless as to the static problem. You can only turn up the volume, which increases the static even more.
- After a couple of months, when the speakers started to get really bad, I figured out the problem when my speakers would crackle a whole lot and then just turn off. Sometimes they would even turn back on intermittently. The problem was the power button. It is one of those buttons that you push in to turn it on, and then push it in to pop back out to turn off again. It was getting stuck on the borderline of off and on. I think this might have been the problem of the static because when I tried to fix this, the static was better too.
- The solution was to tape the button in so that it could not pop back out. However, this meant work and also looked funny, but most importantly, was not reliable. This would only work for a couple of days, and then I had to retape it. I used different types of tape but nothing worked. In the end, I just had to pay more to get new (quality) speakers. I stuck with Altec, though, and found some better speakers for just a bit more.
Moral of the story: DON'T BUY THESE SPEAKERS. They will only last a couple months in your house unless mine were just rejects.
