| wendmc's Full Review: 1998 GMC Sierra K2500 Ext. Cab C.M.I. |
I have fought with GMC about this problem from day one and they say it is not there problem. Below is the email which I sent to GMC and then there wonderful response.
First...The problem I have with the skirts on the dulley pickup is the paint on top has spider cracked in several spots. The problem is due to nothing being under the skirts to protect them. Therefore NORMAL wear and tare will make the paint crackle. Well read on and you will see what happened.....
--I have been dealing with Sims Buick in Warren, Ohio and GMC customer service for almost 2 years now.
I am VERY!!! disatisfied with my service I have received. I own a 1998 Sierra GMC Dulley pick up truck with diesal engine. I have had a problem with the skirts of the pick up from the time it was purchased. This matter has been brought to the attention of Sims Buick and to GMC customer service. I have been told that the problem is a problem of GMC and that it is being corrected in newer vehicles but as for my vehicle they do not care about because they will not fix it. I have been told that a "so called" area vehicle manager has said "No" to this. But, I have not seen, heard from, nor do I know who this person is or even if they exist. How can one person make a decision on whether or not to take care of a vehicle which is still under plenty of warranty. Especially if this person does not even see this vehicle. I am VERY dissatisfied with the dealings with GMC and do not! understand why they will not fix something that is under warranty and that they know is a definate problem. We asked if they would simply paint the skirts, and there reply was that if they did, it would crackle again as soon as we left the parking lot. Now if that is the case don't you think that something should be done about this. They say that the problem is that there is nothing under the skirts to keep the paint from crackling. Now...are they just lazy and do not want to do the job or what is the problem here. Obviously if they know HOW to fix the problem and that it IS a problem
then why wont they simply fix it. Ill tell you why...because we are just one person who is having
difficulty with a product and they do not care about one person because they have several people who buy there products. Now if you ask me that is POOR customer service. And my husband and I will NEVER own another GMC product EVER again. I would like this problem to be resolved but I know ! that this will probably be tossed aside and maybe even be laughed at...well I work in customer service and I believe that the customer comes first, and I do EVERYTHING I can to help them.
Now are you ready for there response...you will love this :
--Dear Ms. --------,
Thank you for contacting the GMC Internet Response Center. We appreciate the opportunity to review your concerns with the paint on the skirts of your 1998 GMC Sierra. We have examined request number 01651968 in which your concern is documented with the GMC Customer Assistance Center and with our central office and we are in agreement with the position previously provided to you that being the marks were caused by rocks kicking up on the fender at high driving speeds, which would not have been covered by the GMC New Vehicle Warranty.
We apologize that this decision was not in accordance with your wishes.
This is the final decision of General Motors and it will not change. Please feel free to contact us again with any other concerns you have.
If we can assist you with anything else please do not hesitate to call the GMC Customer Assistance Center at 800-462-8782. They are open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 11:00pm, Eastern Standard Time. They are in the best position to give you a timely response. If you would prefer to continue to work through e-mail, we certainly understand. We will attempt to resolve your concern
in the shortest period possible on a first come, first served basis. Address your mail to cac@gmc.com. We are currently responding in the next business day excluding weekends and holidays.

The other problem we have had is that the brakes grab when you go to move the truck frequently. It has been to the shop for this also but there response is "They can't find the problem". Again..are they lazy or just don't know what they are doing?
