| Jaynrand's Full Review: Aiwa Mini System NSX-D22 with 3-Disc CD Changer |
About five months ago I wanted to replace a Phillips CD-player that had ceased functioning. My first effort to spend about $100 resulted in the purchase of an RCA RS-1286. This was a good moderate system. But the sound was not good at the upper volume levels. This particularly became a problem when using the headphones.
So - back to Wal-Mart I went. This time I got an AIWA System. The model number is NSX-D22. It was on sale 11/02 for only $124.66. And this is the system I should have purchased to begin with.
It has two large speakers and two smaller "surround" speakers that can be place elsewhere in the room. The length of the wire however limits the distance you can place them.
The 100 Watts of power gives you great sound even in the high volume mode with little distortion or hum. Of course this is a "portable" system and not a Bose or other sophisticated sound reproduction product. But if you are looking for a medium priced system for a bedroom or dorm, this is a good one.
There is a 3-CD slide out tray. The display is in green LED and is easy to read in all modes. The radio and clock are easy to program. You have your choice of regular or 24-hour display, that is 1 o'clock pm becomes 13 o'clock.
The system has Super-T BASS which will emphasize the lower levels and a treble that will enhance high frequencies. Both of these have three settings.
All activity can be set by using the remote which takes a bit of memorizing, but it is all clearly explained in the instructions. (Two AA batteries for the remote are NOT included).
You can tape from CD, AM/FM radio, or prerecorded tape. The radio has both mono and stereo settings. There is an easy-edit and programming feature that makes recording only those CD tracks you want much easier than on other systems I have used. There is also a feature that will time the tracks on your CD and match them to the length of the tape you are recording on!
As a gift for a friend or for yourself. This AIWA is tops! This is the one you're looking for!
