| j3nny3lf's Full Review: Toshiba MV13JD1 13 in. Standard Television |
I don't like television, let's get that clear from the outset. I watch it only occasionally. I do, however, like my movies very much, and for movie watching, I do indeed need a TV. Not only do I need a TV to watch movies on, I also need a VCR or DVD player.
Okay, simple enough, right? Wrong.
I live in a trailer. That's right, trailer trash central, that's me. I have a living room the size of a postage stamp, and in that living room I have two adults, half of an adolescent girl (she spends days with me, nights at her Dad's), a large black dog, two cockatiels complete with cages, and two cats who occasionally come out of the bedroom and brave the dog-presence. On top of that, there are three computers, two book cases, one couch, and one dining table/coffee table (it collapses into a coffee table, very nifty). Where am I supposed to fit a TV and VCR?
When my ex moved out, he took custody of the 19 inch TV and the VCR. This was perfectly okay with me, but I did need to replace them. After thinking about it for a while with husband number two, we decided that we didn't need an immense television, since from six feet away even a small TV looks just fine. We started looking at 13 inchers and VCRs.
In the process of looking, we ran across this Toshiba TV/VCR combo at Ubid.Com, and decided to give it a try. I have zero complaints about it.
When we first got the TV, we had digital cable. Setting the TV up to work with the cable was no hassle at all. We now have digital satellite, and again, no hassles making the TV "see" the digital feed.
Where my old TV and VCR never communicated quite "right", with this integrated unit there are no communication problems. The remote likes both components, although we now use the remote that came with our dish. (Our cable remote didn't believe in our TV, it worshipped at different electronics altars).
Unlike my old VCR, the Toshiba TV/VCR combo has yet to eat a video tape. The picture is crisp and clear, and the controls are easy to understand and respond well to the human touch, and the sound quality is excellent for a unit of this size.
Over all, this is a fantastic unit. We're considering getting a second one to put on the bedroom bookshelf so that he can watch football while I watch Gone With The Wind again.
