Anna, good review, as usual! We enjoyed our one and only visit to Bouchon. However, we liked Bistro Jeanty better and they are just down the street from Bouchon. I thought the food at Bouchon, as someone had noted in their comments, was good but not spectacular but I thought they had a bit of an attitude. Bistro Jeanty is less costly and more fun and the food is better.
Just my opinion. :)

Restrooms!!! (Reply to this comment)
by SHeineman
Oh my goodness, someone else with this obsession! I hate restaurants that don't have clean, well kept restroom! It doesn't have to be fancy, but if it looks like the restroom at McDonald's, I probably won't be happy! I was at a restaurant a couple of weeks ago, one that a close friend raves about and where I have eaten twice before, and at the end of a good dinner, went to the restroom. It smelled awful (not typical restroom smells..it was an awful moldy smell) and was so dirty. I will NEVER set foot in that place again. If they can't keep the restrooms where the public sees clean, what will the kitchen that the public doesn't see look like?

Oh, I am dreaming of revisiting Napa... (Reply to this comment)

Perhaps Dr. kboo and I will have to make an extended trip in *May*....!
(around May 19, if memory serves me correctly)
Otherwise, Epicure and I will have to come up with some excuse to go out and visit (and check out this restaurant)!

Hi Anna,
I really enjoyed your reading your review. You did a great job conveying the ambiance of Bouchon. It reminds me of some of the neighborhood restaurants in NYC - places where the food is reliably good but not spectacular, and the feel is cozy and comfortable. Thanks for the write-off plug at the end. I too have already done the dessert first dinner - our meal was positively outrageous! Hopefully it will make for some fun reading.
See you around,
Epicure :)

This is by far the best restaurant review I have read in a LOOOONG time. Unfortunately, this isn't my type of cuisine, but I will pass the word on to friends. Merci,
