Cons: Problems after warranty. Paint flakes off inside of door, GE won't cover cost.
The Bottom Line: The Advantium is a great multipurpose second oven, but make sure to get the extended warranty. The problems don't come until after the first year.

I’ve had my GE Advantium (220V over the range) for just over a year. It does well for casseroles, pre-cooked frozen foods, cookies, and replaces a traditional microware completely. It’s decent for most meats, although if you like them well-done, it’s hard without burning the outside. For medium and below, it is great. After a while, you get to where you can use the chart provided to ‘improvise’ on those foods that aren’t listed. Things like biscuits, which have to rise and brown, will take about the same length of time as a conventional oven, minus the pre-heat time (which is generally spent doing preparation, not standing and waiting). Fruit filled pies are tricky to cook from scratch (I stick to the regular oven), but heating a pre-baked pie is fine. When cooking things that splatter, like burgers and steaks, prepare to devote time to cleaning the oven when you’re done. I got a good year of use out of the oven, but now that it’s out of warranty the paint on the inside of the door has started bubbling and flaking off. It’s the only interior space that’s painted, and the part that always gets dirty. Even though I’ve followed the manufacture’s directions for cleaning, GE insists I have to pay for the service call and repair. With the circulation fan inside the oven blowing, it’s no doubt some of those little flakes of paint are getting in the food, which concerns me. So over-all, the oven serves multi-purposes, and is great as a second oven, but make sure to get the extended warranty. I’m still waiting to see what a door replacement is going to cost.
