Best Toys is a high tech online toy store. Though they do have some imagination toys like Lego and Barbie vehicles, the main focus is on gaming systems and electronics like digital cameras. I would call this a good toy store for older kids. My boys are 10 and 12, so this store has more items that would appeal to them without all the clicks to sort through a mega toy selection.
I found Best Toys by item price search through Google and linked to some best deal sites. They did have the lowest price I could find on GameBoy Advance on the day I searched. They looked a tad higher than a couple of other stores, but when I ran the prices with shipping—Best Toys got my business. I find it really irritating when a store advertisers a very low price and then makes up the difference on the shipping. That was not the case for Best Toys. The shipping ran average and was a fair price for a system that was priced at the low end for the market.
On the site, they promise to mail the same day or next day. I ordered late at night, and they emailed that they sent the item the next morning. The email had a click to track the package which was nice but not needed, since the GameBoy came in 2 days rather than in 4-8 days listed for the price I paid. I was quite surprised at how fast they moved on the order, and FedEx also deserves a nod for that quick shipment.
The items I ordered—game system bundle with accessories and 2 games—arrived in perfect condition. Someone packed the box carefully and taped it up really well. The packings were functional and not cutsie, and I appreciate that when my items come in fast and looking like someone cared about how they packed the box up.
Best Toys is a Yahoo store. In case you’re not familiar with those, they include mostly smaller stores. They might not be able to handle a full-blown web site and market without some help. Most of the stores—like Best Toys—do not offer everything under the sun. The Yahoo stores focus on an area and do that well in most cases.
Best Toys is a 5 star at Yahoo, so they have had solid feedback to get the rating. That does not surprise me based on my shopping at Best Toys, and I’ll give them top ratings too when I get the form from Yahoo.
There are just a few things that you might need to know if you order at Best Toys . . .
-If you need to cancel, do that within one hour of ordering. They ship fast and can’t cancel out easily with that turnaround. Just be sure before you buy which really is a good thing for all merchants online.
-You can return items that you don’t want, but you pay a 15% restock fee. Again, just be sure that you buy what you want.
-Typically, you can order by phone if you want. During November and December, you can only order online. Again, this reflects the smaller store focus. They don’t have hundreds of employees to cover the crunch at Christmas other than online.
-They use FedEx, so you can’t use a military APO/FPO. That is one thing I would change. It’s hard being overseas. It really helps if stores can send USPS and at US rates for military.
Though I do think it’s important to know about some of the unique rules of the site, I give this store a big thumbs up. The prices are great. They don’t have everything you might need or want. They didn’t have a 12-volt adapter to plug GameBoy in the SUV, but I found that at another larger site. If you need some of the bigger ticket items, they do have those, ship fast, and pack well. I’ll definitely keep them on bookmark and buy again when I need things that they do have.
