Great, when it works

Pros: Small size, fairly tough case, great sound, low price, 128mb memory.
Cons: Buggy performance, poorly placed on switch
The Bottom Line: When it DOES work it is a pleasure. It has great sound and holds a lot of .mgps on its 128 MB card.

I'm on my second Bantam-350 and if I'm still under warranty and I ever get around to it I'll have to send this one back too. I'm having problems with this one that are just bizarre. In the middle of playing a song it will cut off and scroll the "USB CHARGING" message. Sometimes I turn it on and the light for the LCD comes on and then it just turns right off again even though the battery is fully charged.
If you don't mind sending something back once or twice I think this is a decent choice. If you get freaked out by things that break I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

Update 1/16/04
I did eventually send the player back and it appears thet the third times the charm. This player is going strong and the only problem is that the volume button does not work consistently. Obviously that is annoying but not enough to send it back. This does, however, reinforce my view that the BA 350 was a player that as not ready for primetime. However, in the new firmware it is possible to make custom equalizer settings which is very welcome.
The case that comes with the player continues to impress me. It clips on well and has never been obtrusive in the many hundreds of workouts I've gone through while wearing it. The battery life has be a little concerned because I used to get 6 hours of play time and that is down to about 4. This is a sign of a dying battery and I honestly don't think Bantam is going to send me a 4th player when this one dies. At that point I think I'll give up on the 350 and find something new.
Lastly, the on switch of the player is placed on the side of the unit and it is prone to turning itself off when you pull the player out of its case.
