Audible offers a nice selection of books and magazines for download, but their service is poor, and their technical information is even worse. I purchased the Premium Listener service, which allows me 2 book downloads per month for $19.99. I was supposed to be able to easily download these books to my computer, and then burn them onto cd's, but, I encountered three major problems.
Problem 1: When you download the files, they are encoded via a special file type, not mp3 or wma, and converting them to mp3 or wma to burn a whole book onto 1 cd is impossible.
Problem 2: The included cd burning software and library management software is buggy, and if you do not have roxio cd platinum, you are limited to 2x or 4x burning speeds.
Problem 3: There are 4 available file qualities. The first two, which take less time to download, are of such poor quality, that when your burn them to cd, they sound like the reader is sitting inside of a 50 gallon drum. The second two, though they sound better when burned onto cd, take forever to download.
Now, the positives.
Audible has a really nice selection of books. That is just about the only positive I have for this company.
