I would strongly recommend getting a detergent recommended for washing diapers, not your regular brand. Most detergents have brighteners, whiteners, fragrances, etc., that can also build up on diapers. Use a detergent without all that and most people can skip the baking soda and vinegar for most washes because those things adhere to the diapers and can cause stink or leaky diapers or rashy butts.
A couple good ones are Allen's Naturally and Charlie's Soap. SOME moms report rashes with Charlie's so I usually recommend Allen's. If you are washing diapers for one baby and using the small or medium setting on your washer, 1/2 tsp of Allen's powder is all you need, so a 5lb box (75 loads) will wash diapers 300 times!

i would recommend reducing the amount of soap in each wash. cloth diapers tend to get a build up if u use too much soap. if you cut the soap in half you would have some extremely clean, bacteria free diapers using this method.
