We bought a Whirlpool gas range (SF367) in November 2000. The digital electronics have failed three times in the two years since we purchased the range. Without the electronics, the stove cannot be used and the burners must be lit with a match.
On two of the three occasions, the entire electronics panel has had to be replaced, at a cost of $270.
The repairs required two visits by a repairman, the first to determine the problem, and the second to install the electronics components. Between the two visits we have had to wait a week or more, without our stove, while awaiting delivery of the parts.
The serviceman suggested that the electronics may have been damaged by electrical surges. That seems unlikely, since no other electronic devices in our house, including computers, have been damaged. The problem appears to be with the range.
