The Hunt For The Perfect Jeans-
I must confess that I am married to a jeans snob. In fact I think I mentioned it in a previous review. Prior to our marriage the only jeans my husband would wear were Levi's. Now I like Levi's just fine, and he looked really nice in them, but unfortunately the price tag of the particular kind he preferred ran into about $55.00 a pair. This may not sound like much, but for a man who lives in his jeans, this can add up pretty quickly.
I had to reform him and quick! We tried a wide range of less expensive jeans from Carhart and Lee to Kirkland and still hadn't found a winner. On a whim one Christmas I picked him up a pair of Eddie Bauer 5-Pocket Jeans with Relaxed Fit and finally, finally we had a keeper!
The Eddie Bauer 5-Pocket Relaxed Fit Jeans-
These are classic fitting, no frills, denim jeans. As you can tell from the product description, they have 5 pockets, the two rear, the two front, and a smaller inset or change pocket in the front. They also feature a zip fly and a single button closure.
My husband loves that they don't have any "extras" on them. No strange loops or extra pockets, just plain, comfortable, durable denim.
The fit is relaxed according to the description, and my husband prefers them this way, a bit loose in the seat, knees, and thigh, but not baggy. He is quite tall at 6'3 and of average build. Very slender men may prefer the more fitted Classic Cut.
Other Offerings-
If you like the EB Men's 5-Pocket Relaxed Fit Jeans as much as we have, you may find yourself wanting to check out other jeans in the family. Eddie Bauer also offers a Loose-cut, Classic-cut, flannel-lined, fleece-lined, and side-waist elastic version of the basic 5-pocket style. We own at least one pair of all of these except the elastic waist version and Steve loves them all, it's just a matter of preference for fit, color, etc. The quality is still there.
Size Options-
As I mentioned earlier my husband is tall and Eddie Bauer is one of the few stores he can readily find his lengthy size in stock at.
-Waist sizes run from 29-48
-Lengths run 30-36 and offer longer rises up to 38!
Color Steve Happy!
They keep the colors simple at Eddie Bauer only offering the options of Stonewash, Black and Antique. Some folks might want more variety in their denim, but my husband is quite delighted with the basics, no weird colors for him. =)
Where Do They Wear?
When the EB Men's 5-Pocket Relaxed Fit Jeans do finally begin to show their age, it's always in the same place. My husband (like most men I think) always carries his wallet in his back pockets, and the inevitable tiny holes at the corners of his pockets appear. I'm not complaining, he's hard on jeans and they've held up better in this regard than any other he's had. Fading is of course unavoidable, but it seems gradual and even and not terribly noticeable except for the black colored jeans.
One Satisfied, Picky, Husband
It may take some time to find a favorite, but when you do, it's a perfect fit! The low price of $29.50, the durability and the classic styling make these jeans a favorite for both of us!
You can find these jeans at Eddie Bauer stores, in their catalogs and online at www.EddieBauer.com
