Channel Master 9521A Problems (Reply to this comment)
by panoral
The first unit I bought worked fine but the controller case got very hot. I bought a second unit so I could return the first-the case got even hotter. I removed the cover on the controller and found that a large non-polarized capacitor was getting too hot to touch when the unit was operated.
I finally got hold of an excellent tech help person at Channel Master and quickly was informed that two lots of the unit were giving the same problems. The date codes for the units were YL and YP (printed on a small green sticker on the unit's base). Sure enough, both of my units had this code. The cure is to replace the capacitor,Channel Master is sending me a new cap. and I will shortly be testing it! Hats off to this company for excellent help.
