Pros: None
Cons: Substandard picture / Hot-running with noisy fan / Slow grid and channel changing
The Bottom Line: I strongly advise prospective buyers give first consideration to other HDTV tuner brands, at least until Sony replaces the SAT-HD100 with a much better performing model.

| philc2's Full Review: Sony SAT-HD100 Multi-Satellite Tuner |
This reviewer possesses 40 years experience in purchasing and using the more upscale levels of audio/video equipment. The Sony SAT-HD100 is in the top two or three most disappointing purchases out of dozens made. I've been using it almost one year, along with my Sony WEGA 40" direct view HDTV monitor (a set I highly recommend). The picture "sharpness" of the SAT-HD100 is noticeably less than that provided to my TV monitor by a 7 year old RCA satellite dish tuner, which was that brand's midlevel tuner at the time purchased. Incoming satellite signal pathways are the same from elliptical dish to both RCA and Sony; with high quality intereconnects then feeding both to the monitor. I rate Sony SAT-HD picture sharpness less than satisfactory. In addition, the Sony performs like a "small furnace" in our hot Arizona summers (it noticeably adds to higher ambient room temperature and must be unplugged when not in use---this also provides relief from the somewhat noisy fan).
