The Bottom Line Do you really want to use disposable wipes with cloth diapers?
I know, I know - this will probably seem like a no-brainer to most people. . . but I honestly struggled with this when I started using cloth diapers. I kept wanting to use those disposable wipees. Don't! Here's why: When you are using disposable diapers, you need to have disposable wipes - so you can roll them up inside the diaper and throw them away, right? But if you use disposable wipees with cloth diapers, you have to pick the wipees out of the diaper (and presumably put them in something) so you can throw them away. Yuck. So if you're considering making the switch, do yourself a favor. Run to Walmart and buy some white washcloths and a small squirt or spray bottle (you can get the washcloths 10 for $1 at Walmart). When you get home, put the washcloths near your diapers in your changing area. Put a little bit of baby shampoo or bath in the bottom of your bottle and then fill it with water. When you need to change your baby, take one of the washcloths, squirt it with a little of the water and use it instead of disposable wipes. When you've finished the job, just throw your washcloth into the diaper and put the whole thing into the diaper pail. Wash the cloths right along with the diapers and covers when you do you the wash. I know - it really is a no-brainer, I guess. But maybe there's someone out there like me who has brain cramps!! Happy Diapering! :o) |
