The Bottom Line: Cheap to buy, can be expensive to use, no fax, dies not last long
The Lexmark X73 is a good quality multifunction office machine becasue it in inexpensive, the print quality is good, is fairly easy to setup, and has space saving multifunctions.
The machine is fairly inexpensive. I purchased it for $149 about 18 months ago but I've seen it cheaper now.
The print quality is good. You can even print photos if you set the resolution high enough and use photo injet paper.
It is fairly easy to setup. It uses your computers USB port, so it communicates faster. To install, you start the driver setup (before you plug in the USB cable (which is not included), then you plug it in when prompted. The software lets you know when the ink is getting low.
The combo copier, printer, and scanner saves space. It is about the size of a fax machine. This is great for cramped spaces.
The cons are the cartridges are expensive, it does not support networking, no fax capability, and the software can be intrusive.
The cartridges can run $60 for the black and color. Save money by getting a refill kit.
It does not support networking. If you have multiple computers on a netowrk, you can't transmit print jobs remotely.
It does not fax (maybe thats why its cheaper)
The software can be intrusive as well. It starts when you boot up and can take up quite a bit of memory.
After a year of use, the printer died, and ended up throwing it away.
