I decided to return the unit to CC. Not because I didn't like it, but because there is a MUCH better deal through the friends and family plan as mentioned on avsforum.com. Saved over $60 and got free shipping too.
For now, I'll be keeping the 5040 "ready to go". When they get the 6-second-per-channel-change problem fixed, only then will I enable the service. Until then, I'll continue to use my Panasonic. Oh, and I plan on using the Panasonic's remote with the 5040. That remote is just horrible.
