1. The Legacy

Monkey island has entertained adventure/puzzle gamers for nearly a decade now. It's a lighthearted, fun game, which tests your wits and your patience. The jokes are clever (the 3d accelerator button in one of the originals which was a 2d game...).

2. What it's all about?

You play a young pirate who has a never ending battle agains the ghost pirate le chuck. Don't worry though, nothing scary, just good fun.

The puzzles become more difficult to solve as the game moves on, and the tips the other game characters give you less obvious so make sure you pay more attention as you go through the game.

You move using just the cursor keys, which will certainly annoy you if you're used to the point and click control of the original monkey island and other similar games in the genre, for example the star trek undiscovered country and generations adventure games.

The Good...

It's not going to get boring too quick, and like a good book you won't be able to put it down until you finish. Clever puzzles (some of the combinations are bizarre!).

I'd say this is a good fun game which you'll enjoy whether you're new to monkey island or an experienced gamer.

The Bad...

Control method needs improving.

The Ugly...

Some of the things you are supposed to figure out are so bizarre you end up having to just guess things you might use together till something works.

Graphics and Sound

Basic 3d graphics. To be honest it's the same model used in the original alone in the dark 2 from some years ago - picture background with basic polygon characters. Of course the shading and resolution are much improved but it's not a 3d world you're playing in.

Sound is nothing special but not too annoying so you'll not really notice it too much. I think you're supposed to be able to hear the characters as well as just see the writing but i could never get that to work on my system for some reason.
