Pros: looks nice
Cons: WAY TOO EXPENSIVE
The Bottom Line: Don't waste that much money on an outdated computer. But if it comes down in price, i'd recommend buying it.

| compu_wiz's Full Review: Hewlett Packard HP Pavilion 9790C (P1338A#ABA) PC ... |
Sure it's fast, but for 1,349$ US (reduced price) i'd expect a whole lot more then just 1 Ghz, with 128 MB of sdram - and a low max of 512 MB- the cdrw is already outdated with a recording rate of 8x write at 4x rewrite and read at 32x, a DVD ROM at 12x.It's a bit of a rip off, and the name HP isnt going to do much for your performance. Shop around elsewhere, you should be able to find a way better deal then this. You may be thinking, i'll never need that much speed, but that's what they said about the first pentiums. You could probably find it somewhere else for less then half the price.
It didn't even have an updated version of windows( came with 98 SE).
I bought this machine because I thought it would be suppurb for that price, perhaps it had some hidden things inside that wasn't listed. I was wrong, so I sent it back.
Although it did come with lots of expansion, 5 pci and 1 agp, and the quality of the parts is quite amazing, i'd still like to have at least 1 ISA (their not that outdated).
The DVD software included WinDVD 2000.
For the HP CD-Writer Plus it came with Adaptec Easy CD Creator.
It does, however, handle games and multimedia very nicely, but my old pentium 11 handle games and multimedia nicely too.
The quality of the parts probably raised the price, but as technology gets better, the older stuff needs to come down in price.
