Hi,
I can't remember now how much of our money they had up front, but I think it was only $250 or so. I should go look at the papers. Anyhow, the short answer is that I stuck with them because I was stupid. The long answer is that I kept thinking "any day now" and was depressed at the thought of losing the $250. Even as I was sticking with them though, I realized somewhere in the back of my head that it wasn't worth it and that we'd make out better somewhere else, even after losing the cash they already had.

I really liken it to a battered woman staying in a relationship--I kept thinking things would get better, I had such positive memories of other priceline interactions, and I was afraid to leave.

Thanks for your comment, and I'm sorry it took so long for me to reply! I didn't see it appear!

You sure answered any temptation I might have to use this chaotic, disorganized company. Either they pay their people practically nothing and have a huge turnover, or they are trying to book more business than they can reasonably handle.

Priceline has already laid a couple of other duds--their 'name your own price' for gas and groceries. Sounds like they either will be out of the mortgage business one of these days, or some state attorney general will sue them for wire fraud (any lawyers listening out there?) and they will be kicked out of the morgage business by the courts.

The only questions I had while reading your review are these: why did you stick with Priceline? Did they ask for a ton of money up front in fees and closing costs and then you were stuck with them?

Good luck in the future when you do this again.

There are a few times--only a few--when I'm glad to be renting. Having read your sad tale of Priceline incompetence, I'm happy not to be in a position to deal with them. Good review.

Sounds like Priceline is in the business of appraising homes much lower than their value. This same thing happened to me. Read my review to find out my story.

Good luck.

Reviews like this remind me why I go to the trouble of reading all the reviews in the category. Sometimes I find a gem.

(BTW, I was on vacation between the time you wrote this review and today. I'm not normally this slow.)
