Bow down to Audiogalaxy

Written: Feb 07 '01 (Updated Mar 30 '01)
Pros:find any song you want, downloads are quick
Cons:can only download one song at a time
The Bottom Line: If you love to download MP3's then this is the site for you.

For a while Napster was the best way one could download MP3’s from the net. Then I was told about another search engine for MP3’s that was called Audiogalaxy. I had been using Napster for a while and didn’t want to leave it so quickly, I mean after all I had downloaded so many songs off it. So I was quite happy with the service I was getting from them, Napster that is. Of course things changed when I started using Audiogalaxy.

One of he things that makes Audiogalaxy so much better than Napster is that all those transfer errors, remotely queued, and cancellations are not present. Plus the transfer rate off most of your downloads is fast. The most I’ve waited for a song was around 10 minutes. In addition to that the song is usually in its full from. There were two songs I tried countless times to download off Napster and end up missing part of the song. But thanks to Audiogalaxy I now have the full versions of the song. So on the quality of downloading Audiogalaxy wins it hands down.

The amount of songs that are giving back to you after you have typed in a request in are a whole lot more than Napster, which usually only gives you 100 results. Audiogalaxy blows them out of the water with the amount of results that are given to you. I have hot had a problem with finding a song as I usually have many choices to choose from. So once again Audiogalaxy wins in this category. But before you can start downloading songs like crazy you need to download the satellite. And this service is free of charge, just like Napster.

But there are some downsides to this site. But that’s okay though because like all things nothing is perfect. Well as far as man made objects are concerned. One of the downsides is that you can only download on song at a time while the rest of the songs remain idle. I still hate this aspect of the site because I’m used to down loading a lot more than just one at a time. Another downsides is that you can’t play the song before you download it so you have to wait till the song has been completely downloaded until you can hear if it the one you want. But other than those two flaws there is nothing else wrong with Audiogalaxy. At first it took me a while to get used to understand how it use Audiogalaxy, but after I learned how it became a piece of cake.

Most of the songs that are requested are usually found and you are pretty much guaranteed to get your song. Why you ask because Audiogalaxy continues to search for your song until it gets it and downloads it for you. Napster can’t say that well as far as I know at least. You can either search by artist, song, or genre. It’s all up to you, as for the other stuff this website offers I don’t know much about them. I’m just using it to download music.

Audiogalaxy is your one stop for all your MP3 downloading needs. If you have a consistent need for MP3’s come here. Considering that this site is still not a big name like Napster they have surprised me. The only question is will this site continue to be this good or will it fall though the cracks and become another forgotten name?
