Clean, standard accommodations, no facilities; don't pay the rack rates.

Pros: Clean hotel; convenient location; decent food; sometimes an excellent value.
Cons: High rack rates; limited facilities; too close to the seedy Hauptbahnhof area for some tastes.
The Bottom Line: Decent choice for price-conscious short-stay business travel. Not recommended if you don't speak any German.

| mwaxenberg's Full Review: Dorint Am Stresemannplatz Dus |
The Dorint am Stresemannplatz is a modest business-class hotel with friendly service. If all you need is a convenient place to sleep for a couple of nights on a business trip, you can certainly do worse in Duesseldorf. The Dorint lacks luxuries such as spa/pool/gym facilities, which you will find at the Radisson, Hilton and Nikko. The restaurant is really a glorified pub, though the food is rather good. The breakfast buffet is respectable. The rooms are comparable to the Holiday Inn at the other end of Graf Adolf Strasse - clean, basic accommodations, nothing more. The size of the rooms varies widely; I've had commodious junior suites and cramped singles on different stays for the same rate; it depends on luck and availability. If you need telecommuting facilities, go elsewhere - the wiring here is pretty outdated. And if you need staff who are fluent in English, you are probably better off at the Hilton, Radisson or even the Holiday Inn.
The Dorint can be an excellent value during non-peak periods. On the other hand, the rack rates for peak periods are quite high for basic accommodations in a dodgy location. Check www.dorint.de for specials.
