| beeej259's Full Review: Samsung Yepp YP-30S MP3 Player |
I just recieved this MP3 player for Christmas and it is great. This player is about the size of a tic tac box, it has about the same weight as one too! The sound quality is exceptional, and it is packed with features, such as designing your own welcome screen.
The external side and display.
This player is extremely small, as I mentioned before. It has a full LCD display that can be customized. It scrolls the whole song title and artist, features an indiglo backlight, time of day, battery life indicator, track number, and a number of other features that can be selcted.
To pick a song, there is one round selector that functions as the play, pause, foward, backward, and stop button. There is also a hold switch, volume buttons, menu button and record button.
On the top of the player, there is a built in microphone for voice recording. On the bottom of the player, a piece slides down to access the menu and record buttons, and also to access the battery slot. This player uses 1 AAA battery which lasts an extremely long time
What do you Get?
The player comes in a cool cylinder package that holds everything needed to operate the player. It comes with a USB cable, software to put songs on the player (VERY easy to use), a belt clip, an arm clip (for running or lifting...), battery, neck band, instruction booklet, earphones (I'll get to these later), and...did I mention the cool package? = )
Use...
The player comes with simple and descriptive instructions that depict all options and functions of the MP3 player. Playing a song is so simple, just push in the round selector and it turns on and plays. To search thru the song, just push and hold the selector forward/backward. To turn the player off, push the selector in again and stop the song. After 5 seconds of being stopped, it turns off.
The menu holds many options for the player, such as repeat, shuffle, etc. options, an equalizer, file settings, and personal options (contrast, backlight, time...etc.) While playing a file, whether a voice memo or song, you can create a loop in the song from selecting a "point A" to a "point B." The player will then loop thru the selected portion.
Also in the player is a voice recording function. You can record hours of voice notes with the built in microphone.
What I don't like...
One thing about this player that I did not like was the earphones it came with. They are the kind that you have to stick in your ears. Not only do they hurt after about 40 seconds, but the cord is about 2 feet long, so the earphones won't reach into your pocket. I recommend just buying another pair, like the Sony Street Style ones.
The other issue I have with the player is that there is no memory expansion. Everything is built in, and there's no slot for other Flash cards. But it has 128 megs. That's about 40 songs recorded at 128 KB/S (CD Quality).
