Having great sox!Feb 10 '01 (Updated Sep 08 '01) Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line A silly editorial about how I can keep my sox straight... or not! I never really gave much thought on how to choose socks. I personally wear uniforms to work at the hospital, and regulations state that I wear white socks. At home, I am a jeans and tee shirt kind of girl, so I wear white socks. The question here would be "how do I keep all those white socks straight?" First of all, when I buy socks, I buy the ones on sale, no matter what the brand. As long as they're white, that is all that matters to me. Usually they come in six packs. Second, when I wash them, I count them to make sure they are all matched and accounted for. That way, if I know the dryer has eaten one, I pick up the dryer and shake it to make it give me back my socks. I do have a two year old son. Now keeping his socks straight is a little tougher, because he has such small feet. Those socks are easier to lose and it frustrates me beyond belief. There isn't too much I can do about that. As you know, little boys need all different color socks, to go with their cute outfits. You would assume that the different colors would make it easier to keep track of, but that is not the case. Shaking the dryer doesn't help here. In fact, I'm lucky if I can match the socks even after I buy them! (and again, I purchase those socks that are on sale...have you SEEN the prices on toddler socks??) Then, too, my son just loves hiding his socks from me. He makes a game of it. I'll find the second sock days or even weeks later, after I have given up all hope. I have a special drawer for those socks of his that don't have matches, and when I do find one, I can easily (or not) pair it up. Well what can I say about socks? My advice... if you want to keep your socks paired, get the same brand, the same pattern, the same everything. Or be like my boyfriend, and put little identifying marks on each pair with a non washable marker. Or don't wear any at all. Cavemen didn't find a need for socks, correct? **This is part of a write-off on How To Choose Socks hosted by Jenni1396.
