Recording now supported with RockBox!!! (Reply to this comment)

Rockbox "daily build" supports recording! Also, a nice feature is that recording automatically names the live recording as a datetime.mp3 format, which makes making very quick recording easy. (the Archos software only gives it one name and you must change the name between recordings.) Then later, under Windows Explorer you can easily rename the files to whatever you want.
The latest "daily build" RockBox also allows display of ID3 tags while the song is playing.

Rockbox MAKES this unit shine and makes the Archos worth EVERY PENNY!

All week I've been recording lectures through the builtin mike and they have turned out good with the unit placed on the table in front of the person speaking. Recording at 16Khz and 48Kbps in mono gives about 40MB for an entire hour... so doing the math, 20GB allows for about 500 HOURS of recording... SWEET! After the lectures, I connect a USB cable to the lecturers laptop and transfer the Powerpoint to the Archos hard drive to peruse later on my home computer, and even RE-LISTEN to the entire lecture at the same time... just like being there the first time!

I will update this as I see more features with good utility for the Archos and make it an even more useful MP3 recorder/player/hard drive storage device.
