GoZing - Get Paid For Your Opinion!
Dec 28, 2002 (Updated Jul 30, 2006)
|Effort vs. Reward:
I heard of GoZing about a year and a half ago when I was at a reward site and saw their banner. At the time they were advertising free pagers providing you met their criteria and agreed to accept text message advertisements. Unfortunately I wasnt in the coverage area to qualify for one at the time and since then they have moved into the cellular phone realm of online sales and service. I wouldnt have given them a second glance had it not been for seeing a review by a fellow Epinions member [LisaDo] and Im grateful for her review! I headed to the site and at when I first arrived there I thought I typed in the wrong URL since all I saw were advertisements for cellular services, phones and accessories. Blink and you might just miss the small tab that says cash surveys so make sure you look for it before you give up on the site.
The basic premise of the site is that you receive payment for taking a survey. So far all I have gotten surveys for are movies that havent been released yet but it was nice to see advanced screenings of films as well as the theatric trailers and commercials. You are asked a series of questions about recent movies that you have seen, how often you have been to the movies and general questions about your viewing habits. Most of the movie clips last between two and five minutes and stream nicely. Youll be asked a series of questions before you view the clip and again after you watch it. There are some sections that ask for a detailed answer such as what you remembered from the clip, what parts you liked the best etc. Some questions require you to only click a selection from a batch of answers [multiple choice]. From what I have gathered from different message boards the bulk of the surveys are the same but some of the questions are phrased differently depending on the age range of the person taking the survey.
So far I havent had any technical issues in regards to watching the clips [knock wood] but the site does carry you through the process of making sure that you have the necessary requirements before you start the survey. Once you start taking the survey there isnt a set time limit [at least I have never seen one] but I dont suggest that you stop in the middle of it and sit down for dinner. Ive never had a survey close on my or meet its quota so I am not sure if the quota is kept track of when you start the survey or when you complete it. Since Ive only taken a few of the surveys so far Im still a little new to the process of picking up new surveys but the site says that new ones go live on Fridays. Ive taken LisaDos advice and started checking the site on an almost daily basis in the hopes of picking up an extra survey or two.
You have two payment options available to you at the present moment. The first is a transfer to your PayPal account something that the site really seems to push. The second option is a gift certificate to Amazon.com that arrives via email. So what do you get in exchange for your time? $4.00 via PayPal or an electronically issued Amazon.com gift certificate. $4.00 might not sound like a lot of money but when you take into consideration that you are only investing about ten minutes of your time to take a survey its easy money. Ive only done a few surveys so far and the reward emails with the Amazon.com redemption code have always arrived about a week before the site stated that they would be issued.
Who Can Participate?
There are a few rules that must be followed and from what I have read on several message boards the site doesnt tolerate any type of abuse. If you are a resident of the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland or Canada you can sign up for a free account at the site and fill out the required information necessary to screen you for upcoming surveys. When you first arrive at the site and want to start an account you will be asked what portion of the world you are in most recently I noticed that they have a message that reads: Europe, Asia, Australia and South America: Coming Soon.
The information includes your name, email address, age, email preference [plain or HTML], zip code, gender, date of birth and finally the creation of your account password. You must be 13 years of age or older to participate in the surveys and if it is found that you lied about your age you account will be cancelled and any money due to you will be forfeited. Make sure that you read over and agree to the sites terms of service before you create your account. They can be viewed at the following URL: gozing.com/survey/surveytermspop.asp
In order to view the streaming video clips clearly you need to make sure that your computer system will be able to interact with the site on a few different levels. Of course the most obvious is a connection to the internet as well as Internet Explorer version 4.0 or higher. If you are an AOL user, make sure that you have version 4.0 or higher. Youll also need to make sure that you have one of the following operating systems on your computer: Windows 95 or 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP. If you dont have the Windows Media Player version 6.4 or higher, you can download it at the site [download times depend on your internet connection speed]. The last requirement is that you have both java scripts and cookie enabled. If you have your computer set to reject cookies chances are you wont be able to do much at the site. MAC and Web TV users cant take advantage of these surveys due to technical and operating issues however if you access the internet using either of these check the site often to see if they have found an acceptable alternative.
The site offers you the ability to take advantage of several different cellular phone plans depending on where you live and the service that is available in your area. I tried several times to fill out one of the online applications and received error messages each and every time [Server object error 'ASP 01\77 : 800401f3' Server.CreateObject Failed prd/process.asp, line 123]. Since I was never able to get an answer from the site about this error I can only assume that they dont want or need my business or have no intention on fixing this error. The rate plans that were available for my area [Southern California] were almost the same as other cellular providers so there really wasnt much of an incentive to beat down the door and try to get on with GoZing.

My 2 Cents
Overall the site is easy to navigate, easy to use and very clean cut. If you are going to sign up to the site make sure that you fill out the Demo Profile so that you will be given the most opportunities to participate in surveys. I thought I had completed this when I joined but when I checked the page there were about six questions that were not answered. Check the page every so often in case they add additional fields or categories. For about ten minutes of your time you are paid $4.00 thats not bad at all. If you get one survey a month you are looking at $48.00 at the end of the year and if you get your payments in the form of Amazon.com gift certificates that translates to a few toys or gifts that you dont have to pay for.
At the present moment the site is offering you .50 cents for every survey that one of your referrals completes. If you have a handful of friends that are into doing cash incentive programs you might just see a few extra dollars every month. Remember, the site logs your IP address and will cancel your account of you attempt to defraud the site in any way. Its hardly worth getting banned from the site for a few dollars so think twice before you let greed get the best of you.
The Bottom Line
So far I am more than pleased with how the site performs, the pay out methods, lack of spam mail I receive and how easy is it to access the site. If you do any number of reward programs and are looking for something that is simple and easy to use that actually pays - I highly suggest that you give GoZing a look. Not only do you get to see previews and trailers for films that havent been released but you get to give your opinion of them and get paid for it.
As always, thanks for the visit!
