Hot and cold weather causes moisture inside the unit which in turn shorts out the electronics.Roof mount antenna is also not waterproof.Unit does send out a good signal when working and is far better than CB radio. Frs will end up just like CB radio because people will use them like toys.

Many are purchased for children and not all are 5-16 years old some children are older and the channels will soon become clogged with garbage just like CB radio did later on in its life time.

The price of $119.95 is very high considering the quality and the fact that the roof units are not waterproof and radio shack repair service is just a laugh. 2 months waiting for a simple repair or report and repair costs.
