Our local Raley's has them for $7.89 a can, but I can get them at Ralphs in LA for about $4.99 each. I stock up whenever I see them at a good price. Still the best olives I've ever had.

Happy new year!

You can get them from Jaffe Brothers, a Wholesaler in Valley Center (near Escondido), for about $4-$5 per can.

The only olives that I have had which were better, was when I was a kid, an Italian family near Oakdale, CA would give us jars of home cured green olives for Christmas. They were the best, much like Grabers.

Revisiting Graber's Olives (Reply to this comment)

I'm sitting here eating these olives straight out of the can. They're $4.99 at Wizer's Fine Foods, a tiny, local chain of 2 stores. Mine are size 14-- I guess that makes them bigger? I'm usually a fan of saltier olives, especially green ones, but these are just fantastic.

The size 14 olives are 25 calories per serving, with 10 servings to the can. I ate most of them as I re-read your review. All I can say is this: thank heavens it's monounsaturated fat.

Hi Amy - great to see you back!

Vons and Pavilions used to carry them but stopped about six months ago. So your best bet is to call the Graber Co. in Ontario and find out where they are distributed - I doubt that you want to drive all the way up to my little village for them!

Thanks for reading -

I had a chance to tour the Graber olive "factory" last year and I didn't. I didn't realize their olives were much prized--I'll have to look for them in the store. Hmmm, my Vons has almost nothing interesting, but maybe Pavilions carries them. What about Bristol Farms, might they have them?

Look out - they're addictive!

This category has existed for a long time, but they stopped accepting posts last April. I was so glad to see it opened up again after the redesign, but be aware that it is an unlinked category, so posts to it don't go through Just In, and aren't available through the so-called Index. The only way to find them is via someone who has posted to it. All of which means that you'll have to do some discreet alerting if you want anyone to read your entries here. Drat!

Have fun - I'll look forward to reading your stuff.

Thanks for reading!

I love olives (and olive oil), especially in pasta. Graber's olives sound wonderful. I'll have to look for them next time I'm at the grocery store. Thanks also for introducing me to a whole new product category - I never even knew Brand Name Food Products existed. I love reading and writing reviews about gourmet food products, so this is such a joy for me to discover.

Great review!

Re: When I lived in Egypt (Reply to this comment)

When my parents lived in a barn in central France in 1940, one of the few things they had to eat was olives off the tree. One taste told them why curing is so important - they are evidently horribly bitter when fresh. Makes you wonder who even first thought about curing them. I love them, but they are always too salty for me, so these are perfect.

Good idea about ordering by bulk - I'm lucky to be able to get them at my local, but can't count on it forever.

my ex mother-in-law used to cure her own. They used to smell absolutely wonderful, yet they were without a doubt one of the worst things I have ever tasted.

Maybe you should entice this company to set up a web site and sell you olives by the crate. Nothing is worse than a food craving that you can't satisfy.
