| randfan's Full Review: CometMultiroom Disinfectant Cleanser With Bleach |
I love Comet cleanser for several reasons. It is a tough cleanser with a no-scratch formula. It can be used on porcelain, stainless steel and fiberglass safely.
Comet kills some nasty germs that make folks sick, including Staph, Salmonella and Pseudomonas. Those cutting boards where you cut up a chicken can be safely and thoroughly cleaned with a scrub of comet. It's nice to know your kitchen sink is disinfected after you cook, and Comet does that for you. It's also a big plus in bathrooms, for obvious reasons.
Comet contains bleach, which helps keep toilets, sinks, tubs and other surfaces white, yet it is much easier and less messy to use than chlorine bleach.
Comet can be used on more delicate surfaces as well, such as imitation marble, plastic and enamel, provided you use plenty of water with the Comet. Comet recommends you test an area first if you are unfamiliar with using it on an item.
Comet cleans my Calphalon cookware better than anything I've tried. It removes the food from the cookware with ease, and I like the fact that it is disinfecting each piece as I clean. I also use it on my stainless steel stock pots, and they look great and feel very clean.
Comet also cleans my white Corian counter tops and makes them look like new. The bleach in the comet removes an array of stains. My kitchen table has a white Corian top, and my children have used that area for gosh knows what, but sometimes there are some pretty funky stains on it. I just use some Comet and a Scotch Brite pad, and within a minute that table is restored white with no trace of stains. Even tough stains like tea, pomegranate, coffee, blueberry, etc. are removed with Comet.
I think some people have the idea that Comet is difficult to remove after cleaning, but it's really not. Just use plenty of warm water, both during the cleaning process and to rinse afterward. Comet, in my opinion, rinses much easier than the liquid scrubbing cleansers, and when completely rinsed it won't leave a gritty residue.
Lastly, Comet is cheap! It costs less than a dollar a can at most stores, but at the wholesale clubs you can pick up six cans for under five dollars. And these are large 1.56 lb. cans. You can't beat the price.
The only thing about Comet (and this is true with any cleanser, most likely), is you don't want to accidentally sniff this stuff up your nose. That bleach will irritate you and you will sneeze and cough. So just hold your breath a second, shake out your Comet, then breathe regularly and get busy cleaning! I'm sure you'll like the results.
