| qwestsucksbad's Full Review: General Reviews of Qwest Customer Service |
One day I had to call Qwest about a change in my local phone service. The man I spoke with was very nice, and had the info I needed.
When my issue was taken care of he told me that because I had such great credit history with Qwest I would be able to get this great deal. First he tells me this plan has 200 anytime minutes and 1000 night & weekend minutes for just $29.95 a month, which was perfect for me. Then he tells me they have a great offer for this Nokia phone. They will send me the phone, and in about 2 weeks I will receive a card to fill out and send back to Qwest for a $50 Visa. He told me to not even worry about the $50 phone showing up on my bill, because I will receive this card in time to pay for it. When I received this Visa I could just call them and pay for the phone with it. What a great deal!!! (he also never told me about a contract)
I get the phone and everything is just great. I got my first bill, and it was a little more than I thought it would be, but I was OK with that. I was going to get $50 back.
I don't remember how long I waited for this card to arrive, but my bill ended up being late. When I called to find out what happened, I got a huge run-around (about 1 hour).
1st: Explain my issue to the first customer serv rep, and have them forward me onto somebody else.
2nd: Explain again and once again be forwarded.
3rd: Explain one more time. Then be told that I was supposed to call a different number.
4th: Call the new number and go in circles with the "if you want this, push #1" and finally push the wrong thing just to see if I could get a person.
5th: Reach a person and explain again. I FOUND SOMEBODY THAT KNOWS SOMETHING!!! She tells me that she upset with Qwest because they are telling us we will get our Visa cards within a few weeks, when they are taking up to 4 weeks to get the paperwork sent out.
6th: When I told the girl that it had been more than 4 weeks, she called Qwest and set me up to get a card. Then she reminded me that it will take up to 4 weeks for me to get the paper work to fill out.
Now I'm semi-happy, i got my issue taken care of. At least I thought. I ended up paying for the phone after that, because my bill was late. When the paperwork for my Visa never showed up, I had another 1 hour run around.
About a month after my last encounter, I had a late bill. I admit it, I had some unexpected issues to take care of and my cell phone bill was put aside. I have never had any issues with paying them in the past, so I thought this would end up OK.
So, I get this "Your phone will be disconnected if you don't pay by this date" letter. When I received the letter I called them and told them I didn't want to disconnect the phone, and that I planned on paying the whole thing (which wasn't that much, I think it was about $75)) off next payday. If they wanted to keep my service turned off until then, I would not mind. The guy says OK.
So, payday is rolling around and I call. First call length = over 1/2 hour
1st: Explain and get transfered God only knows how many times. (finding out that they did charge me $200, and completely disconnected my phone)
2nd: Find somebody that knows something and tell her about never getting the $50 Visa, so she credits my account (very nice)
3rd: Tell her What I just told you, and she tells me that after she credits back the $200 and after doing the $50 credit, I will owe like $25. I say "Great" , here's my credit card, pay it. Then I'm told that I have to call back the next day to get my phone hooked back up.
Now I'm pretty happy,I screwed up by not getting my bill payed but it's all OK now. I get to work and call Qwest to hook up my phone. Call length over 1/2 hour.
1st: Explained to many people, and got transfered to many people.
2nd: I am told that I need to pay a $100 deposit to reactivate my phone. And, I'm told that I cannot keep my old number. I tell them that I need to discuss this with my family, and I'll call back. He says "Here's you reference # for when you call back".
Next day: call length is over 1 hour
1st: Explained to many people, and got transfered to many people. Find out that the reference #s they give you mean nothing.
2nd: Now I'm told that I need to pay a $200 deposit, or pay a $200 disconnect fee.
3rd: Ask to speak to whoever decides what I need to pay.
I get a manager in the credit department and explain again. She says "Hold one moment while I pull up your account".
4th: Somehow the guy I spoke with the day before picked up the phone. He tells me that the $100 is actually an advance payment, and that it was only $100 ( he doesn't know where they were getting $200). He tells me that my account is being credited the $200 disconnect fee. Then he sets me up with a new #. He also tells me he has a way to get my old number back, and he does it. I'm thinking this this guy is awesome, and he's taking care of everything.
Everything is great again!!! Then I get my bill, and there is no advance payment on it. Think I take care of it with another irritating phone call.
Less than a month later, I get a letter from a collection agency. It's for the $200 disconnect fee that was supposed to be credited to my account. I call Qwest, They credit my account, and send me a check for $14.00 because I overpaid. The credit company is still calling me. AARRGGHH!!!
Get my next bill, and see that last months was credited with my advance payment, but this new bill wasn't. Think it's taken care of again. Until my next bill. Call them up and am told that the $100 was a deposit, and not an advanced payment. Ask him how the last two bill got paid with it if it were a deposit. He takes care of it.
My advanced payment is now gone, and it's been a couple of weeks since I heard from the collection agency.
I just received my latest bill, and now I have phone call charges. They now say that my 1000 minutes are for weekend only. I called them up to ask about it, and was told that this is how it has always been. I tell her that Qwest sucks, and has lost a customer. I tell her that I've told everyone how bad they are, and that I am very unhappy with the fact that I am stuck with them until April. She tells me "Well for just $5.00 more a month, you can increase your minutes. At least you'll be happy until your contract is up". I hung up on her.
I had to skip a lot of stuff that happened with them, because this was getting too long. If you're still reading this, please take my advice and don't use Qwest for anything. If you know how I can get out of my contract early without paying $200, please tell me.
