Target is the single biggest donor to the United way, who passes money on to thousands of other charities. Target does not give donations to unreputable cherities and inknown ones. For the reason of vietnam veterans, it is because Target with it's giving nature was having problems with too many requests that they just couldn't fill. So un-partnered donations of any kind are not given. only money sent away is for partners like the United Way, Their education fund, (donates 1% of all money spent with a Target RED card to schools) and breast Cancer research.
Target donates more money each year than any other retailer.

I felt the need to share... This comes from a cop pal of mine, so it just might be true. Please read the following and feel free to copy & paste and distribute to anyone.
I thought all of you might find this interesting & informative. I didn't have any idea that this was true (I just figured it was another forwarding email) until I contacted Target and the manager there verified this information. It is very sad and I hope you will take this to heart. I will NOT shop at another Target Store until their policies change. Hope you will do the same...
by Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association.
Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our spring recognition event.
We received the following reply from the local TARGET management: "Veterans do not meet our area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education."
So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and veterans in general do not meet their donation criteria, then something is really wrong at this TARGET store. We were not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance.
As a follow-up, I e-mailed the TARGET U.S. corporate headquarters and their response was the same. That's their national policy.
Then I looked into the company further. They will not allow the Marines to collect for 'Toys for Tots' at any of their stores. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would not allow families of employees (who were called up for active duty) to continue their insurance coverage while they were on military service. Then, as I dig further, TARGET is a FRENCH-owned corporation.
Now, I'm thinking again. If TARGET won't support American Veterans, then why should I (or my friends and family) support their stores by spending our hard earned American dollars only to have their profits sent to France. Without
the American Vets, where would France be today? (Speaking German).
Feel free to pass this along to whomever you want.
Sincerely,
Dick Forrey

Too confusing for me (Reply to this comment)

I decided to go to Mervyns.com yesterday and was totally lost with all the links and could not find kids clothing anywhere in my searches.
They are at the opposite side of the mall and I wanted to get an idea of what they have before going there.
I ended up applying for a card and then find out they let you know in 30 days. I was expecting it right away.
I will just go to the store, but target is not near me and I gave away a gift card over the holidays, not sure if you can use online, but bed, bath and beyond you cant so I gave that away too.
Now where my son has his therapy there is a target next door, might go there tomorrow.

At 90% off I might go into one of their stores. I don't know why, but I just don't care for their stores. I think it is because the one I use to shop at was always empty!
And getting that % with the online store would be wonderful.
Thanks for the comment and support.
