Wish I'd read the other reviews first!

Pros:Inexpensive for the French Quarter, Great location!
Cons:Un-kept, tiny rooms, undisclosed charges that add up.
The Bottom Line: Relatively good pricing, great location, gross rooms, argumentative staff, never planning to stay there again.
I sure wish I'd read the other reviews first. I read them after we had already reserved via "prepaid" means through Orbitz for two nights at this hotel.
First of all the good news is that you probably will get a good deal. We had a queen room for $59 a night. The hotel is in an excellent location in the French Quarter, right across from the Hard Rock Cafe, 1 block from Jackson Square, 2 blocks from Bourbon street and across the street from the Mississippi river. The concierge was all very helpful and courteous.
The bad news is that the rooms are super tiny and in various stages of disrepair. Our room had holes above the bed on both the plaster wall and the brick wall. The tub had mold growing in the shower caulk crevices. Several times we saw garbage bags left lying around the hotel, stairwell and courtyard. We could never get the air conditioning to go off, which left cold air blowing on our faces from the one vent above our pillows all night long.
I felt like I was hit with a bait and switch as well when we got there. The room we selected was described as "Queen, City View" When we got there, we were informed that only half their rooms have windows as many rooms are interior ones. And that if you wanted a windowed room you had to not only mark it as a special request (as you would Non-smoking) but also check in at 8am (they won't do actual check-ins until after 3pm though)and saying a little prayer wouldn't hurt either.
Then they inform you that they are required to provide phone service and a room safe service by LA law. But whether you use the services or not they will charge you $3.95 and $2.95 respectively each per night. They also charge you 17$ (7$ taxes) per night for use of the 1 and half blocks away parking garage. Something that wasn't listed with our internet contract either.
The parking garage was a bit scarry as you drop of your car and let the attendants park it (so they can park it multiple cars deep as I found out when I went to retrieve my car and had to wait for her to pull the van parked inches from my bumper in front of me out of the way before I could pull out and leave.) as well as leave them your keys. Considering we had a lot of Christmas and Travel items in our vehicle, we were really worried that not everything would come back safely.
I can honestly report that the car, to my knowledge so far, was not damaged nor were any of our belongings missing though.
When I showed them a print out of my room contract, they begin arguing with me and explaining how wrong it was and how I must not have clicked the extra link with extra conditions they were certain were there, and that I have yet to locate.
The only consolation was that they informed me they no longer charged the 3.95$ per night energy tax listed in my contract and that their tax rate was less than that listed supposedly equalling out to other 2.95$ they were going to be charging me as well.
So for two nights of our $59 hotel room the total came to about $190. All being said, still a great price for the location. Not so great for the ickiness of the place.
