There are many reasons to avoid CWI Hosting of Texas. They merely provide managed servers that are owned by RackSpace.com, but they'll tell you that it's only because they reside in the same building as RackSpace. They have an extremely small staff that always share the responsibility of sales, billing and support and, due to that fact, quite frequently mess things up. For instance, their Chief Tech Officer will also do billing on occasion. Their Unix servers experience frequent downtime to which end they typically refuse to stand by their "uptime guarantee" but, instead, offer a lame excuse. When their servers are up, a customer will experience frequent but short outages due to "Apache Restarts" because of configuration changes on their overcrowded servers. Certain members of their support staff are often short and rude, acting as if they were troubled by your request for assistance. As another scenario, two support tickets are opened; one simple while the other slightly more in-depth. The simple one is answered within the hour while the other not for days. Their sales "team", in actuality one person named "Mark", is often aloof and indirect in his answers. They often direct you to email the "CEO", but that person never responds to inquiries. The receptionist, who shares the CEO's last name, is equally as disorganized.
