Sears ~ Avoid Sears.com if you are looking for clothes, parts or a deal!

If you were to ask me if I shopped at Sears much, I'd tell you no. Yet my credit card statement would tell you differently! That's because even though I don't shop often at either Sears I do tend to buy a lot every time I do!
SHOPPING ONLINE WITH SEARS
The main problem, for me, with shopping at Sears.com, is they don't sell kids clothes. I LOVE the KidVantage Club that they offer ~ they will replace ANY clothing item (including shoes) your child wears out before they grow out of it! I first learned about this MANY years ago when my then 5 year old daughter loved to race the cats up the stairs (on her hands and knees) as well as run down the hall (at our house and the neighbors) and then slide on her knees as far as she could. Needless to say, she would wear holes in the knees of her pants and/or tights quickly! Sears would happily replace them (with the same size) saving me a bundle! Fortunately, she out grew this faze but was followed by siblings that found their own ways to destroy their play clothes!
I would LOVE the ability to buy kid's clothes from Sears online!
FINDING WHAT YOU NEED
The Sears.com home page is VERY busy ~ too busy for my taste.
The easiest way to find what you are looking for is to click on one of the choices located on the top of the page Appliances Automotive Clothing Computers & Office Electronics Fitness & Recreation Housewares Jewelry & Watches Kids Lawn & Garden Tools
This bar does NOT follow you throughout the site and therefore you need to go back to the homepage if you want to go to a different area! If you want to go from say, home and garden to automotive, you have to either put an items into the search option or go back to the homepage! This can be a real pain.
This bar DOES follow you around Auctions on Ebay Hot Buys Shop by Brands Clearance Center Catalog Quick Order. I find it a bit odd that the link for Auctions on Ebay follows you around yet the different departments does not.
The homepage also divides MANY departments into MANY, MANY sublinks ~ thus the too busy idea! You can however, link quickly to a number of choices.
MY EXPERIENCE
I needed a new knob for my Kenmore trash compactor so I hit Sears when I was at the Mall. I was told they don't carry "parts" in the stores and I would need to call the parts store or order it online. So, later that day I log onto Sears.com
About 2/3 of the way down the page I see Parts and under that I click on appliances.
I was able to find the part I needed but here is the odd part ~ even though I am ordering it online, I still need to pick it up! That's right, order it online and then pick it up at one of their Parts and Repair Centers!
I find that ridiculous! The main reason I shop online is for the convenience and here they have me driving over an hour to pick up my order!
THIS AND THAT
** You can access or make a payment on your credit card at their site.
** If you are looking for a Sears store, they have an easy to use store locator option.
~~ ** ~~ ** ~~ 2BUZY'S FINAL THOUGHTS ON THIS SITE ~~ ** ~~ ** ~~
I must admit I was excited about shopping at Sears online ~ ordering basic kids clothes and getting the kidvantage guarantee all on my schedule without leaving the house. Then to find out they don't sell clothes online! Then I am told to go online for a part only to find out I still needed to pick it up, and that was enough for me! I would NOT recommend Sears.com. Which is really a shame since their stores offers a good variety of items at a competitive price.
Too bad they don't have a website that does as well!
