Pros: beautiful grounds and beach
Cons: a little bit of a walk to the "night life"
The Bottom Line: Would recommend for a budget-minded vacation - you definitely get your money's worth!

| duscsm's Full Review: Kin Ha Hotel |
Very nice hotel. The rooms are spacious, but furnished very basically (nothing fancy). No carpet, either. However, the service was very good, and everyone was very friendly and helpful.
The A/C is individually controlled in each room (if you have a suite with multiple bedrooms, the temp in each bedroom can be individually controlled) We stayed in a one bedroom room in 6/2001. (side note: we discovered that in the beginning of June, Cancun is OVERRUN with recent High School grads. If you're over 21, keep this in mind when you're planning your trip! Even Spring Break was more civilized than this crowd. I won't go in June, again....too many obnoxious "kids" - esp. once they start drinking!!).
The big bed in our room was actually two smaller ones pushed together (not too comfortable if you like to sleep in the middle!) The room had a dorm-style refrig (about 3 feet high). Very convenient for storing drinks and snacks. (we bought plastic spoons, paper bowls and cereal/milk from the convenience store just up the street for snacks in between meals). The beach is beautiful. There is a bar outside, and they have happy hour in the late afternoons. There is also a volleyball area on the beach outside the hotel pool. The pool was of average size, and very well kept. There were always lots of lounge chairs available. The hotel has a little gift shop/convenience on the second floor with magazines, toiletries, a few snacks/drinks, souveniers, etc. Our room had a patio with hooks on the walls for a hammock (I was told that you could rent the hammocks from the front office, but we never tried). This is a gated property, with security guards at the front gate 24/7. You just had to show your room key to get in. I felt very safe there. They had a buffet breakfast every morning (very reasonably priced - I think it was around $7-8 per person for AUCE), with a good selection of items.
It was a little bit of a walk to the main nightlife areas (around by Coco Bongo and Sr. Frogs), but it's an easy walk on relatively well-lit sidewalks. There are always taxis and buses available, too.
I booked this hotel through the www.vacationexpress.com website. It was part of a package deal, so I'm not sure how much just the hotel itself cost. As a sidenote, I also highly recommend VacationExpress - it was super easy to book with them, all the details of each trip available was easy to find on their website, and they have excellent customer service. Their trips include round-trip airfare (from select cities), hotel, transfers and taxes.
