Ease of Use:
Pros:Nice low price with a good performance!
Cons:Built out of low cost items!
The Bottom Line: For the general computer users not needing super speeds with super graphics, this computer will do just fine.
This computer is designed for the person who doesnt want to spend a lot of money on a computer but one with fairly nice performance. This computer prices for about $549 without the monitor, this gives you a choice of adding on the size and what type of monitor you wish.
The T2080 uses the AMD Athlon XP 2000 processor (1.67 GHz) with 512MB DDR (PC 2100) memory for performance and memory needs for most all applications. For storage they add in a fairly nice size hard drive of 80GB that will satisfy the storage need for almost everything you need. To top it of the T2080 has a DVD/CD-RW ROM drive that runs the DVD at 16x and the CDR-W at 32x/10x/40x for plenty of performance and fast copying CDRs.
Video
The T2080 uses an integrated 32MB S3 ProSavage8 chip for video, which is good for most applications including watching DVD movies.
For the hard-core gamers the integrated video will probably lack some performance on some of the games but they do provide the T2080 with an AGP slot for video upgrades.
Other Features
Other features are, it has a built-in 10/100Mbps Ethernet port and comes with a 56K ITU v.92 Fax/Modem. Built in it is a AC '97 Audio Sound and it comes with a pair of speakers.
Inside the machine you have the AGP slot for video and three PCI slots, (One PCI slot is used, two are open.) it has three internal bays that makes it possible to add on another hard drive if you should need more space. Other ports include four USB ports, (two in front & two in the rear) one serial port, one parallel port, in front an input for a Microphone/Headphone, a game port and two PS/2 ports for a keyboard and mouse.
It comes with a basic keyboard and a wheel mouse.
Preloaded on the hard drive is Windows XP Home with Microsoft Works and it has a one year parts and labor warranty. They do offer online help if needed.
PROS
The price for a computer with the Athlon XP 2000 with 512 DDR memory.
The DVD/CD-RW
Two USB ports are in the front for easy access, plus two in the rear.
DVD movies have a nice video quality.
CONS
The only cons I see here are that it is put together with parts that are made of the lowest prices available. The computer does provide you with some upgrade possibilities but they are limited.
Compared with the low-end cost of a Dell or Gateway computer well you get what you pay for, all low-end computers are built with the lowest cost products available. The emachine T2080 is as good as the low-end machine of the competitors.
Overall
I was impressed with this emachine since in the past they put out some very cheap stuff with a lot of problems. This machine had no problems and ran rather smooth. The emachine is built for low cost because they know not everyone cannot spend $1000 to $2000 for a computer.
DVD movies play beautifully on the T2080 with the only hold back being the speakers. The speakers are OK for general uses but if you are going to watch DVD movies over the computer, listen to music or play a lot of games then I highly recommend in investing in a better set of speakers.
Games seem to play fairly smooth for me though I have been told that some games do hesitate a bit because of the integrated video. Remember you can always add a nice video card if you think you need one.
The built-in sound card does a fair job, here also you can add a PCI sound card if you think you need one.
This computer is probably not made for the person who is into needing a lot of speed and power but for the most general use I think the T2080 will serve for several years of good service.
