eMachines Have Notoriously Unreliable Power Supply Units (Reply to this comment)
by cityslickers
Didn't have many problems with this computer at first, though it's a back up for our laptops so it didn't get that much use anyway. Then the power supply went. A little research on the Net just now indicated that the power supply unit is a regular problem in eMachines. Apparently, when their cheap power supply unit goes, it can other components are often destroyed, including the motherboard and CPU. Unfortunately, already purchased a power supply replacement from eMachines, which recommended buying a new CPU too (they must be well aware of the matter), but installing the new psu puts us at-risk for continuing issues --IF the motherboard even works still. Bottom line: You really do get what you pay for...

I have had a great experience with this computer (Reply to this comment)
by chris38
This computer has served me well for the past 2 1/2 years of my high school and college experience. It is pretty fast, and I have not had one computer part fail on me, despite using the computer for many hours and turning it on and off every day for the past few years.
The only negative thing I can think to say about it is that the graphics card is integrated and without much support for modern graphics effects; therefore, you will not be able to play any of the more graphically demanding computer games that have come out in the past year or so. However, if you don't care about computer games, or if you don't mind playing older games, the graphics card is reliable and more than adequate.
I think eMachines did a very good job on this model.

emachines lack reliability (Reply to this comment)
by sailman179
I bought a refurb T2080 from Tigerdirect. Right out of the box the CD=r drive was bad. They sent me a replacement drive and I installed it. I kept getting disconnected from the internet after 5-20 minutes of use. After almost three months emachines decided that my modem card was bad. Another is on the way as I write this.
Pro:
To their credit emachines technical support was very good but they don't have an 800 number so I had to pay for the phone to resolve my warranty.
Con:
The problems I had with the computer should have been found and repaired at the factory. It seems like emachines quality control is poor or non existent. I doubt that the parts they put in the computers are of high quality.
Recommendations:
Don't buy emachines! If you do buy their extended warranty and a bottle of aspirin to deal with the problems your likely to have.

Sounds better than my PC! Sound recorder? Nice it has online help...free? Read my revised review of my PC? Sweetie says being charged for assistance goes with emachines. Not.

Re: Personal Experience (Reply to this comment)

Hi Amy!
Sorry to disappoint you but this computer is sitting at my brothers house and I have used it several times.
As far as the HP Photosmart 1215, I have had one for over a year and it is still as good as the day I bought it. Sorry that you had problems with yours. I did have trouble with a HP Photosmart P1000 and took it back in and got the 1215.

Personal Experience (Reply to this comment)

This review is really lacking it. I can see no indication that you have used the computer at all much less used it enough to form an opinion about the quality of the product.
Some technology may work great when it's brand new, but fails after a bit of use. My HP Photosmart 1215 is a prime example. If I had reviewed it the first week I owned it, I would have written a glowing review. Unfortunately, when the printer was a few months old it began to act up badly. I am no longer happy with it at all.

I want a button for..., (Reply to this comment)

..."Super-Duper Really Superbly Outrageously Wonderfully Helpful"; not just 'Very Helpful'.
Where is that button?
Once again, you've turned technical stuff into something this layperson can understand and make use of.
Thanks so much!
