I have a friend who owns the Talking Travel Companion. I'm searching to buy one myself. It is great. The coolest feature is the soft, female voice that announces the time and weather. It is clear and auditable. I would have been concerned about monotony. However, the announcements vary in their text. It's fun to cycle through the scripts. We also like the size and clarity of the display. It is bright enough, however, it won't keep you awake. The numbers for the time are nice and large. The contrast between the background and the information is good. We like to use the clock when we're expecting a storm that has not yet arrived. It's pretty sensative and accurate.

I can not think of too many cons. Perhaps some travelers would object to the width of the clock. We seem to be into slim things ie. the handhelds and phones will disappear if they shrink anymore. But for the benefits offered, I'll take a normal size travel alarm and put aside my addiction to "slimmer is cooler".
