Dear Sprint, my boyfriend (and by proxy, me) have been a customer of yours since 2001. In that time weve had our fair share of ups and downs but for some reason weve (my boyfriend and myself) have always come back and lauded the services and new technologies of your company. Well, Im sad (well, actually kind of happy at this point) to see our relationship come to a close and here is why.
As a partner in a relationship (business or personal) you need to provide me with certain things. I expect that you (Sprint) would give me assistance, support, time, attentiveness and maybe the occasional hug or two, but for some reason youve grown cold and distant only seeking to make money and forgetting about the most important aspect of your business: me (the customer).
Now, I know that you have relationships with millions of other women and men (you player you) and Ive always been respectful of that but sometimes I need a little attention. Just like today. Today Sprint, I went to your house (the local Sprint store) and tried to exchange a phone Id purchased only about 11 days ago. One of your wives, Leah (the manager of the store) informed me (not too kindly) that it would not be possible. Taken aback I informed her that I was well within my 14-day return policy even brandishing a receipt, complete packaging and the works. Leah, your really snotty manager informed me that even though I was within my 14 days, that because I had exchanged the defective merchandise only 2 days prior now meant that I was ineligible to switch to a new phone.
WHAT!!??!? I was flabbergasted Sprint, I thought that you would do what you said and honor my 14 day warranty but apparently you have a policy that states exchanging a phone voids a 14 day warranty unless I want to get the same phone. Well thats a problem my dear Sprint because I dont want that phone anymore. I want to upgrade hell, Ill even give you the difference (Im so giving) in price. Nope. No can do says the manager voice rising. She must think Im stupid, why is she yelling? I politely told her to stop yelling and to take a step back she was after all invading my personal space. How unprofessional is that?
Maybe someone should have told me that when I was exchanging the phone two days prior. Make the policies known, so that situations like this can be avoided - but I guess that's just not a part of your plan is it? Maybe Leah could have made some calls and fixed this situation for me. Im a good person I pay my bills on time, this is my third phone there and I refer my friends to you all of the time. Nope, no dice.
All the while, Im having this exchange with Leah the manager and customers are milling around the store pretending not to hear us yell. Your other minions (employees) continue to walk around even going into their respective offices and shutting the doors. Why wont someone calm Leah down? Oh yeah shes supposed to be in charge the beacon of professionalism and shes anything but. So what is there left to do Sprint? What has become of our relationship. It is a shadow of its former self you have let me down by allowing money to cloud your vision.
In a radical twist when I explained my situation to one of your other lovers (1-800 customer care employees) she was befuddled wondering why I could not just return the phone since for all intents and purposes (my 14 day warranty) that would seem reasonable, but when she called up Leah she too sided with her and so now I have this $179 phone whose service I have cancelled for an additional $150 and the product is defective. Thank you Sprint. Thank you for having faith in me as a customer. For being the bastard I should have known you were and for allowing Leah from your store located on 182 Neff Avenue in Harrisonburg, VA show her complete and total lack of professionalism and respect.
For that Sprint, you have lost my trust, my respect and the most important thing to you my money.
