I found a product I have reviewed, Hitachi Magic Wand, at www.goodpleasures.com and am reviewing that website.
What is this site and how does it work:
Warning: Although this review will not be sexually explicit, the site is explicit and is for adults only.
About the site:
Like Adam and Eve Online Store and unlike Good Vibrations, Good Pleasures hits you right away with a sexually explicit photograph. The first page doesn’t even have a warning that you have to be 21 to view it like the other sites have. In fact at drugstore.com where the Magic Wand is $10.00 more than at Good Pleasures, it states you must be 18 to purchase the product.
We are told some important information right away though. We are told among other things that they never send unsolicited e-mails, that there are no pop-up ads, that all orders are sent discreetly, in plain boxes and that there is a 30-day return policy.
There is even an e-mail link right on the first page to contact them so the site makes it easy right from the start to buy products from them.
We are even told that their shipping is fast via UPS and USPS offering 3, 2 or 1 day service.
We are also told right from the beginning that Master Card, American Express, Discover and Visa are accepted so the site gets the important things out of the way!
There are links on the first page to an excellent glossary of sexual terms and a page of frequently asked questions.
There are also pictures of featured items as well as links to their product directory – 19 links in fact. If you don’t know what you are looking for you will have fun looking for something.
The Wand was recommended to me as a massager and when I went online and started searching I was looking for the best price. I found it at Good Pleasure under vibrators, which is how drugstore.com lists it as well. It didn’t take me long to figure out what link it might be under because the links are very specific: Leather and lace, erotic jewelry, and bachelorette party supplies for example.
Clicking on vibrators actually brought me very quickly (All the pages load immediately.) to a page with 4 products. One was a picture of the Wand with a link to Massagers and Attachments so I wasn’t all that wrong thinking it was a massager. I found 12 items here. The product selection and prices are excellent. They sell videos, for example of how to use these products as well.
Clicking on any picture will give you a larger picture and an excellent description of the product.
Shipping, Customer Service, Returns:
After I opened an account and before checkout I was told I could look at estimated shipping costs. That is excellent. It is an easy to read pop up. I was told “UPS Ground Service generally arrives 5 - 7 business days after your order has shipped and is available throughout the 48 contiguous states. You will be provided with a tracking number to track your shipment at www.ups.com. UPS will not deliver to PO boxes, or military APO/FPO addresses.”
I did have a tracking number, there is an order status link and a link for customer service.
This was one of the easiest purchases I have made! The site is very clear I didn’t have to search for the checkout button or the shipping costs.
However many days after 7 business days I still hadn’t received my product. I went to order status and saw then that it was back ordered so I e-mailed Good Pleasures via the “contact us” link and got a very quick response telling me that my product was back ordered. I did respond saying that I wish they had told me when I went to order it. They they were very apologetic and told me I would be receiving it within a week. Needless to say a few weeks later and many e-mails my product did arrive discreetly.
They have a good return policy. "Goodpleasures accepts returns on any products for any reason within 30 days of the purchase...." The information is clearly laid out on the site.
My final thoughts:
I can only give the site one rating. If I could give it more I would obviously rate shipping on time a below average and all else above average. The site is easy to use, the product variety is terrific and the prices are the best around. The fact that there is no warning about being 21 (or 18) bothers me. In truth, even with that caveat or in fact because of it, that won’t keep teenagers away on their own but it is nice to know that they might have given it some though. Factoring that in, the site will get 3 stars and I am recommending it.
