Pros: CHEAP price, LONG & removable battery life, almost as small and light as iPod
Cons: Transferring files (i.e.- Software & USB 1.1)
The Bottom Line: I can't stop comparing the Treo15 to the iPod...it does the same job, yet can hold 3 times as many songs & is only half the price.

| grndslm's Full Review: e.Digital Treo 15 MP3 Player |
I was a little anxious to receive the Treo15 from the manufacturer's website for only $169 (w/ free S&H). After I tore through the packaging and foam peanuts, I immediately began charging it and hooked up the slow USB so that the songs could begin transferring. Transferring files is the ONLY weak side of this machine. First of all, you have to use the manufacturer's software instead of it just being displayed in Windows Explorer as a removable drive. The program is essentially the same thing as Explorer, but kind of a waste. Also, you have to place songs in SUB-directories; I don't understand why they do this...it must be to force you to organize your songs. And finally, once you start to transfer the files you might want to go rent a couple movies (This is the main reason that the iPod kicks booty). But, this hinderance only occurs however often you decide to add a massive 5 gigs or whatever of MP3s. If you keep your collection on the player, you won't have to do this again.....only add a few new songs every once in a while.
Once I began listening to it, I couldn't stop thinking about its great features. It's just a tid bit larger than the iPod, and only 2 ounces heaver. Not that big of a difference to me, but others will disagree. Also, it doesn't look as slick as the iPod, but what else does? The Treo15 has a plastic casing that makes it look like a Fisher Price toy, but I could really care less because it's going to be in my pocket, backpack, or whereever...I just know that I'm not going to be gawking at it while I listen to music.
Then there's the battery. The website claims only 9 or 10 hours of battery life, but I've experienced something closer to 12. PLUS, my favorite part of the Treo15 is that you can change the batteries out (they're only $20) for twice as much song playing...something the iPod can't do.
The OS on the Treo15 is also quite simple. I could really care less what OS is on there, because if it plays MP3s, they're all the same. As long as it has backlighting, it's OK in my books. It spins the hard drive for about 3 to 5 seconds until it has the song in the memory, and then you can put it on top of a dryer for the next 8 minutes without hearing it skip.
In conclusion, there's really no reason not to buy this unless you don't have Windows or are so filthy rich that you can drop $20 bills on the ground and think it would be a waste of your time to pick them up. GET THE IDEA??
