Pros: For a small amount of money you can build up a collection of impressive games.
Cons: Read lots of reviews; many carts are good but some are stinkers.
The Bottom Line: Far, far better than claimed by crap paid-off video game magazines.

| brclarke's Full Review: Atari Jaguar |
A few months ago I picked up an Atari Jaguar with 9 games and two controllers (plus all cables, etc.) off EBAY for $100 US. Since then I've bought an additional dozen carts.
This system is really an under-appreciated gem. When compared to other video game systems I'd say it compares favourably in terms of graphics and sound to the Sega Saturn, and with some games even the Sony Playstation One. The Atari Jaguar flopped back in 1994-1995 simply because of poor marketing and few initial game releases.
BUT now in 2001: for the price of maybe a PS2 with one stinkin' game you can buy a complete Jaguar system with DOZENS of _good_ games. Ignorant folks mock this system because some of the first games released, frankly, sucked - and sucked big time!
Yet for every clunker like Checkered Flag or Kasumi Ninja, there are some really terrific games like Tempest 2000, Alien vs Predator, DOOM, Atari Karts, Iron Soldier, Battle Sphere, SkyHammer, etc. AND now hobbyists are starting to create carts for the Jaguar: in the last year a couple of small companies have produced 5 new games for the Jaguar!
Some people need to have the latest, greatest super-duper 3D video game system - and those people won't be happy with a Jaguar. However, if you are looking for games that are FUN to play as opposed to merely pretty to look at, then the Jaguar is a system you'll enjoy....
