We definitely took the scenic route to our current ISP, Earthlink. Five years ago when we jumped aboard the World Wide Web, we rented our surfboard from Netcom. Looking back, I see now that the service was mediocre at best. You know the joke… My ISPs down so often, it was prescribed Prozac. Well that about sums up Netcom, that and pitiful customer service. About two years later, a bigger fish swallowed them whole and we were now a part of Mindspring. I didn't have the customer service problems I had before, but this provider was still mildly depressed. Of course eventually there were fish bait as well, and Earthlink reined over my Internet connection. (Was all of this relevant…? Major digression, huh?)

I've had smooth sailing since we were bumped to Earthlink. I wish we had begun our journey with them in the first place.

This company is a customer service dream. I've only called a few times, and each time they walked me through, and every time it was my screw up, and not theirs. They've even helped me with problems that were completely unrelated to my connection or browser software. They are an absolute Godsend…. 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

No connection problems either. Oh, there have been problems, but they were mine, not theirs. Enough said on my hopeless inability to tune set my computer up correctly!

The price is standard for the industry, they have a terrific customizable (is that even a word?) Start Page, and 5meg of space for 6you personal we pages. I could use a bit more, but I'm a big web space hog!

If you're in the market for a new ISP, then I would definitely look into Earthlink! I would recommend them (and do) to everyone I know.
