Power supply bad in NOV 02. JAN 03 still not received.

After posting this review, I emailed a copy to Computer Geeks advising that the info had been posted on Epinions, as well as Bizrate and Pricegrabber. About two hours later, I received a telephone call telling me that they were going to ship a power supply out to me. Today, I received a shipping track for UPS.

A grim version
In NOV 02, I ordered a case and power supply from Computer Geeks (CG). I planned on building a computer system for my Grandsons Christmas present. It arrived around Thanksgiving. The power supply was bad. I contacted CG, who gave me an RMA. I sent it out the next day, which cost me $7 shipping. After about three weeks, CG told me that they were waiting for a shipment of 350 watt power supplies, but had no idea when any were expected. I explained that I needed a power supply right away so I could build my Grandsons Christmas present. I was told that they had 300 watt, as well as 400 and 450 in stock. I said the 300 was too small and to please send me the 400 watt. I said that I would pay the difference, but hoped CG would give me a break on the price. CG gave me a $12 credit on the 350 watt power supply and billed me $48 for the $60 400 watt power supply. I thought that was not fair, but delighted to be able to finish the system. The replacement power supply was also bad. They sent me a pre-paid shipping label which took about ten days. I sent the power supply back to CG on Christmas Eve. Last week I called CG and asked where my power supply was. I was told that they were out of stock and would send one to me when they arrived. I went on the web site and told them that the web site showed them in stock. I was informed that they were not the same stock number. I said that the only difference was mine was blue and they had red and silver in stock and the only difference in the stock numbers was the letter r, b or s. I didnt care what color the power supply was. I was told that he couldnt authorize the shipment since it was not the same stock number. He said he would speak to his supervisor, who was not immediately available. He said he would email me. Here it is 20 JAN 03. I still havent received an email, and of course, no power supply.
CG has not made any attempt to keep me informed. The only way I have gotten any information is by calling (no 800 number). I have spend $10-15 in telephone calls. I feel neglected and abused. I also feel cheated. The worst thing is when my Grandson asks if the computer is ready yet.
I have recommended CGs to friends in the past. I would never recommend Computer Geeks again, even if they were giving away merchandise.
