Pros: Installation ease, portability, styling.
Cons: Slow response on some operating systems, file naming issues.
The Bottom Line: Solid portable reliability, at nearly 1$ per megabyte. For small loads between office, client and home it is a perfect tool.

| MaasNeotek's Full Review: Sony Micro Vault USB Storage Media 64 MB (USM64) F... |
The Microvault, like many other USB storage devices, delivers additional portable storage capacity in a pocket or keychain sized package.
Installation on both my Apple, and Windows ME/XP environments was as easy as plugging the device into an available USB port. The firmware (USB circuitry and programs) in the Microvault ensure that the device is immediately available on any current operating system (Apple OS X, Jaguar, Windows XP/ME/NT/2000) as a new hard drive letter.
The device can be accessed just like any other drive, using any of your usual file management tools (Windows explorer, Apple Finder) and full drag and drop functionality is supported.
Speed is roughly comparable to a digital camera over USB - 3-4 minutes to fill to capacity. (64mb)
If you work on unix systems, and require case sensitivity, you may encounter some issues. For most items, it's really not an issue, however, if you are (for example) backing up work from a unix environment, and moving it to the USB drive for work on another platform, you might find that the filenames have all been 'modified' and had their case changed. Worth keeping an eye out for.
I can't say I've compared this to other similar devices, but mine has performed consistently, and under extreme conditions (being that it's attached to my keychain, in a -33c winter.)
Should you choose to use the device on your keychain, please be aware that the cover attaches to your keychain, and not the unit itself. If you knock the unit loose, it's gone, and you get to keep the cap. I have NOT had mine come loose unintentionally - but, something to be aware of.
