I enjoyed this film quite a bit, but find it hard to characterize it as a comedy really. Maybe a bit too real for me or something. Isn't Jake Gyllenhaal a presence??? He really reminds me of a younger Tobey Maguire... think both of them should do some great things! Excellent review as always.

And I still want to. My friends fell into equal sides of "see it" and "don't see it"...but the ones I really trust tell me to see it.

I fear it may be too sad for me in my current mood. Of course, I'm at work right now, so my mood is dark anyway.

Fine, fair review--I'll end up seeing it soon enough.

I appreciate your point of view, completely. It was a pretty strange movie, and one that reflects a different time, and some strange values. Jude

You write such great movie reviews.

I enjoyed reading this, but I'm not sure it's the type of movie I'd like. Well, yes, your review convinced me that it's not my type. LOL

And that was a good service!

Actually, it happens to be a developmental stage, well documented by psychologists. She didn't seek out different sexual partners "every time she was bored" she only did it once, and she spent most of the time trying to atone for it.

In today's films, I think it is significant that she was NOT trying to be bad, but was desperate. The affair was more of her mind than her body in any case.

the choice of songs the store manager played when one of his employees died. "This one's for you -"

Good Review - it was a good movie. I don't think it is too realistic, though. I don't know too many youg woman who seek out sex partners every time she gets bored with her husband or her job.
