close, but no cigar

Pros:screen, palm OS5, fast processor, 5-way navigator
Cons:form factor, slider, battery life, price
The Bottom Line: all in all, i will be happy when the next one comes out.

There are some seriously great aspects of this PDA that have made me enjoy using it. there are, however, a couple of clunky problems that should not have made it to the final product.

the biggest problem, for me, is the slider. you really need to tug hard on it to make it go down - to the point where i feel like i am going to break it one day. when the slider is extended there is a rail that is exposed to crumbs and dirt and the like. i can only imagine the slider getting harder to pull down. if they were serious about not having to use the writing surface, why didn't they just eliminate it and use RecoEcho (sp?) software (3rd party software that allows you to write characters on the main screen).

the other problem i have is with the form factor - the unit feels like a small brick in my hand. i don't mind the weight - it's just something about the shape...

on the plus side; the screen is tasty, palm OS5 works great with all but one of my old apps, the fast processor is nice, and the 5-way navigator is a no brainer.
