Pros: Reasonably priced, good movie sound, stylish
Cons: Not great for music only, turner reception poor, small remote buttons
The Bottom Line: Steer clear...too great of a risk that you will wind up with the same errors many Panasonic users have encountered.

| sphr01's Full Review: Panasonic SC-HT700 System |
I purchased this unit in Feb. of 2002 and used it approximately 2 times weekly either for music listening or DVD watching. For the most part I was pleased. This was a reasonably priced and seemed to be a descent buy. Picture quality is good, features good, and the slimmer case (compared to others at the time) was a refreshing changed.
In January of this year, I received a "No Disc" error when I inserted a DVD. According to the research that I could find this is the optical sensor and is extremely expensive to replace. After an eternity in Panasonic hold pergatory, I was told that this item could be covered under the one year warranty, however I could not return it to the store I bought it from - I had to ship it directly to Panasonic at my cost before the warranty expired. I did a little more research on line and this seems to be a common problem with many Panasonic models and they have made to attempts to address the issue - apparently figuring that their profits out weight the cost of correcting the problem.
