After over 27 years of using the same Maytag washer from the time my children were young to becoming an empty nester, it was time for a replacement. I bought a new Maytag Neptune this week. I am so thrilled with it.
I bought a Maytag for the obvious reasons...dependability, efficiency and, in my case, brand loyalty. They all count. The brand loyalty is because my parents had Maytags when I was growing up and I naturally bought one when I married and have always been extremely satisfied. Over about 40 years, I had minimal repair visits. I have used my new machine for 7 loads of wash this week. Everything from white cottons to heavy dark loads and sheets and towels. The machine is super efficient and extremely quiet. The only time you hear much of a sound is when it goes into the "max extract" mode and spins. It uses a minimum of water and a minimum of electricity to accomplish a perfect job.
I love the efficiency of the front loader. It is the first time I have had one and I couldn't be more satisfied. I was blown away when I saw the energy rating on this machine--it uses approximately 296 kilowatthours a year, based on average use. That is about $25 a year (based on the price of electricity today, of course)! Can't beat that--and it will certainly give you a payback in the savings on electricity and water. The electric utility will give me $75.00 back for purchasing an efficient front loader!
There are so many options to choose on the wash cycle--hand wash; delicates; wrinkle free; and cotton/sturdy. The wash/rinse options range from hot wash/cold rinse; warm/warm; warm/cold to cold/cold. I can select heavy soil, normal soil, light soil, quick wash, rinse, spin.
If I want to I can delay my wash any number of hours I choose, which sure is better than trying to remember to start the machine when I get home. I just fill it, put in the detergent (and any bleach and softener) and choose the number of hours, and walk away. There is also a digital time display to let me know how long the cycle will run based on the options I chose. There is an interior light as well.
I couldn't be more satisfied. It's also one nifty looking machine!
